2017 will see a major international aviation conference (the 2017 ACI Europe Regional Airports Forum) take place at The 5 star Fota Island Resort.
Hosted by Cork Airport from May 15 to 17 next year, the forum will attract more than 200 aviation delegates from all across Europe. The intention of this Regional Airports Forum is to provide a platform for regional airports to exchange knowledge, discuss issues of common interest and share best practice.
ACI membership covers 500 airports in 45 countries across Europe and Cork Airport has been working on its bid for the conference for over a year with the assistance of Cork Convention Bureau (CCB) and Fáilte Ireland.
According to Evelyn O’Sullivan of the Cork Convention Bureau this “is important for the region to host airport conferences to help attract routes into Cork Airport and develop the region as a destination for leisure and business tourism, as well as providing access for business. We use everything available to us to assist Cork Airport and our regional Ambassadors in attracting such events to the south and our continued success is testament to the collaborative efforts made regionally and nationally.”
