Fota – Treasure Hunt and Dog walk in aid of DAWG at Fota House and Gardens

From celebrating and remembering the summer to welcoming a worthy cause, yesterday on Fota Island, a very special family day out and event was held in aid of a worthy cause. Fota house and gardens teamed up with the Cork dog welfare charity DAWG (dog action welfare group) for a special charity event on Sunday 15th September.  The family and dog friendly (of course!) event was held from 12:30-4pm at Fota House and Gardens and featured a special dog walk as well as not one but two treasure hunts around the grand estate and gardens.

Visitors on the day took part in a range of dog and family friendly events within the majestic setting of the 18th century hunting lodge and scenic grounds. For dog lovers there was a dog walk held from 12-4pm. Taking roughly 30-40 minutes to complete, one started at the car park and on through to the gardens and celebrated arboretum taking in the majestic settings of the estate. For children there were treasure hunts through the gardens starting from 2pm to 3pm with prizes supplied by Maxi Zoo (one for age groups 4-8 and another for 8-12). Continue reading
